Version 1.1 Update August 2026

Makes List Log easier to organize as your checklist library grows.

Collections

  • Group related checklists together your way — by property, vehicle, boat, or however you work.
  • The Checklists screen is now organized into sections by Collection, plus an Uncategorized section for any checklist not assigned to one.
  • A checklist belongs to at most one Collection at a time, or none. Assign or reassign it anytime from the checklist's own detail screen.
  • Collections are purely organizational — a Collection's Active/Inactive status never affects a member checklist's own status or its ability to start new runs.
  • Create, rename, reorder, and delete Collections from the new Collections manager. A Collection can only be deleted once it contains zero checklists.

Duplicate Checklist

  • Create a full, independent copy of any checklist — including its groups, items, and Reference values — without starting over.
  • The copy opens directly in the Checklist Editor with the name field ready for you to type over, starts with no run history, and is always Active regardless of the original's status.
  • Duplicating counts toward the free-tier one-checklist limit exactly like creating or importing a new checklist.

Run Name

  • Give any run an optional label — for example "Spring Fertilizer" or "Building 4B" — to tell it apart from other runs of the same checklist at a glance.
  • Purely a label: it has no effect on completion status, required items, or Finish Run, and can be added, changed, or left blank at any time.
  • Shown alongside the run's status wherever runs are listed, and included in PDF and CSV exports when set.

Reordering

  • Drag checklists into any order within a Collection (or Uncategorized) section — Active and Inactive checklists reorder independently.

Ready-made templates

  • A new set of ready-to-import checklists is available on the Templates page: lawn mower maintenance, fertilizer and weed killer application, weekly safety inspection, a boating set (float plan, pre-trip check, engine maintenance, trip log), and the all-item-types starter template.
Version 1.0 Initial release August 2026

First release of List Log for iOS and iPadOS.

Checklists

  • Create reusable checklists organized into named groups, each with a name and description.
  • Add, reorder (tap and hold to drag), and delete groups and items within a checklist.
  • Set checklists as Active or Inactive — inactive checklists preserve their full run history and remain exportable, but cannot start new runs.
  • Delete a checklist when it has no runs. If all runs are later individually deleted, the checklist becomes eligible for deletion again.

Eleven item types

  • Checkbox, Yes/No/N/A, Number, Short Text, Long Text, Date, Date & Time, URL, Photo, PDF, and List of Values.
  • Items can be designated as Input (filled in each run) or Reference (a fixed value set by the checklist designer, displayed read-only during every run).
  • Input items can be marked Required or Optional — a run's completion status is calculated automatically based on Required items.
  • Photo items are automatically resized (longest side capped at 1600 pixels) and stored within the app — not linked to the original photo library asset.
  • PDF items store a copy of the selected file within the app — not linked to the original file location. Use a URL item to link to a web-hosted PDF instead.
  • List of Values items support the Input role only — each item's option list belongs only to that item and is not shared.

Runs

  • Start a new run from any active checklist. Every run captures a permanent snapshot of the checklist's structure — including all Reference values — at the moment it was created. Editing or deleting the checklist later never affects existing runs.
  • Auto-save: every value entered during a run is written immediately — no save button, no risk of lost work.
  • Leave a run In Progress at any time using the back arrow; resume it at any time from the Runs tab.
  • Tap Finish Run to record the completion date and time and close the run. The completion timestamp reflects the moment Finish Run is tapped.
  • Runs are shown as Complete, Incomplete, or In Progress. Manually override Complete/Incomplete status at any time from the Run Detail screen.
  • Edit Input values in a completed run at any time. Reference values are permanently fixed and cannot be edited.

Export & import (full access)

  • Export any completed run as a formatted PDF — includes the run header, all groups and items with their values, clickable URL hyperlinks, embedded photo thumbnails, and a page number footer.
  • Export all runs for a checklist as a flat CSV file (one row per item per run) for analysis in Microsoft Excel, Apple Numbers, or Google Sheets.
  • Export a checklist's structure as an 11-column CSV file for sharing or editing. Reference-role URL items include their URL and label in the export.
  • Import a checklist from a CSV file following the 11-column structure format. The entire file is validated before any checklist is created — no partial imports.
  • Export a pre-built Starter Template CSV demonstrating all eleven item types, including a Reference-role URL example with Reference URL and Reference URL Label columns populated.

iCloud sync

  • Automatic sync of checklists, runs, photos, and PDF attachments across all devices signed in to the same iCloud account. Available to all users including the free tier — no setup required.
  • If no iCloud account is active, everything is stored locally. The switch between modes is transparent and automatic.

About screen

  • Accessible via the info icon (ⓘ) on the Checklists screen. Displays the app name, icon, current version and build number, a tappable link to listlogapp.com, and a copyright notice.

Free tier & full access

  • Free tier includes one checklist with unlimited runs, full viewing of all run results, and iCloud sync — no trial period, no subscription, no time limit.
  • A single one-time in-app purchase unlocks unlimited checklists and all export and import features. Price is fetched live from the App Store at the time of purchase.
  • Supports Apple Family Sharing — a purchase by one family member grants full access to all members of the same Family Sharing group.
  • Users who already had two or more checklists before the free tier limit was introduced retain access to all existing checklists without purchasing.
